Job Purpose:

As a Care Worker at Dreams Care Homes, your primary role is to care for the personal needs of residents in line with the ‘Code of Practice for Social Care Workers’ as set out by the Care Council for Wales. You will assist in providing physical and emotional care to residents, supporting their independence in a safe and homely environment, under the supervision of the Nurse in Charge and Registered Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to residents based on their individual care plans, ensuring their personal hygiene, mobility, and continence needs are met.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, explaining care tasks and procedures in a clear and reassuring manner.
  • Assist with meals, drinks, and support residents in making choices about their daily routines.
  • Promote the independence of residents while maintaining their safety and well-being.
  • Ensure cleanliness in residents’ rooms, common areas, and equipment used within the home.
  • Offer emotional and psychological support to residents and their families as required.
  • Report any concerns or unusual changes in residents’ health or safety to senior staff immediately.
  • Attend mandatory training and participate in staff meetings to continuously improve care standards.
  • Support residents in activities, hobbies, and social events, encouraging them to remain active and engaged.

Person Specification:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Social Care or willingness to work towards it.
  • Experience working with elderly or vulnerable adults is desirable.
  • Ability to work within prescribed standards and take direction.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Understanding and respect for elderly people, promoting their dignity and independence.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Willingness to participate in mandatory training courses and development opportunities.
