Job Purpose:
As a Registered Nurse at Dreams Care Home, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care for our residents. In the absence of the manager, you will take charge of the home, supervise care delivery, and ensure that the health, safety, and well-being of residents are maintained. You will assist in planning and delivering holistic, individualised care, while maintaining a safe and homely environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Supervise and participate in care delivery to ensure continuity and consistency.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, residents, and families to assess and deliver appropriate care.
- Ensure all medical, emotional, physical, and material needs of residents are met.
- Promote safe medication handling and infection control procedures.
- Liaise with primary health care teams and external services to ensure comprehensive care.
- Oversee resident admissions and ensure a smooth transition into the home.
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Ensure the home runs smoothly, complying with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain trust and confidence with residents, families, and staff, fostering a supportive environment.
- Promote continuous professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices.
- Ensure safe, secure, and clean conditions within the home.
- Maintain high standards of communication, handling complaints sensitively and professionally.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Follow the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant healthcare standards.
- Mentor and guide junior staff, contributing to their training and development.
- Ensure you meet Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements and maintain clinical expertise.
- Uphold public trust and confidence in nursing and social care services.
Person Specification:
- Valid NMC registration and “PIN” number.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and time-management skills.
- Flexible to undertake shift work as per the needs of the home.
- Commitment to treating elderly residents with respect and compassion.
- Willingness to undertake further training to enhance role-specific skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
